Werehog and the rose Chapter 1

(10 years later...)
~Chapter 1: A walk through the village
Amy Rose was a beautiful hedgehog who was passionate about books. She had a nice personality, while her eyes were full of green and pure kindness. Amy's bright pink quills swayed in the breeze as she hummed softly. She held a book under her right arm, and she wore a blue dress with an apron over it. Amy was careful about the pace she was walking at because she had on dark blue slippers, so she didn't want to trip. Amy walked through the small village she lived in, heading towards her favorite place in all of the world. The library. Most of the citizens who lived here had French accents. "Who's that girl over there?" A purple hedgehog with long, curly quills asked. "Why, that's Miss Rose! Bonjour!" The guy who helped sell stuff in the market answered, waving to the girl. Amy's face went a little red. "Oh, hello!" She said, waving back. "Where do you think she's going?" A blue cat whispered to a red. "Heck, Amy is probably going to the library or something cause she's so obsessed with reading!" The red cat exclaimed, enough for Amy to hear. But she ignored the comment, like usual. "I heard she has read every single book in the library!" A young parakeet said to his friend. "Whoa, that's a lot of books!" His friend said, her eyes growing wide. Amy had finally reached her destination, when the whole town was gossiping about how weird she was. But... Amy didn't really mind. She entered through the door."Hi! Do you have any new books for me?"Amy asked Storm. He was putting novels on the shelves. "You're already finished with the one I gave you yesterday?" He seemed to be amazed at how fast she could read. Amy giggled. "It's just that I have a powerful love for reading!" She replied, putting down the book that she had with her. Storm got down from a ladder. "Well lucky for you, a new chapter book just arrived earlier today!" He exclaimed, handing Amy the book. "Thank you!" She said, rushing out the door. "Hey Shadow, look who we have here." Scourge told him when he spotted Amy coming out of the library. "Yup, she sure is pretty." Shadow sighed, staring at her. "Well then... why don't you marry her? A girl like that would be perfect for you!" Scourge exclaimed, encouraging Shadow to 'make a move'. "You're right! I need to confess my love for Amy Rose!" He said, chasing after her. The crowds of people grew large, and it got harder for Shadow to go after Amy. One woman shoved him to the side. "Hey! Watch it!" He growled, trying to keep up with the girl. But he lost patience soon, and found another way to get to her... by rooftop. Dashing across the tops of small houses, Shadow was gaining on Amy. She had her nose buried in a book with a plain blue cover. "I wish that I could have a prince charming just like in this book!" Amy said happily. Shadow jumped in front of her. "Your wish is granted." He told her smoothly. She rolled her eyes. "Hello, Shadow." Amy replied, walking onwards to her home. "What's that you have there?" He asked, snatching the book out of her hands. "Give that back!" Amy snapped, attempting to get it away from him. Shadow scanned the pages. "What, no pictures? This is pathetic." He groaned, simply tossing it into a mud puddle. "No!" She cried, grabbing the book off the ground. Amy used part of her apron to try to wipe it clean. "So... how's that crazy little kid doing?" He asked, folding his arms. "You mean Tails? He is not crazy! Miles is my smart little brother!" She answered, when there was a sudden explosion coming from her tiny home. "Yeah, he's not crazy at all!" Shadow laughed as Amy ran back home to see what was going on with Tails.

Amy entered through the front door. "What was that?" She asked, when she saw Tails covered in ashes. "Are you alright, Miles?" Amy said, rushing over to him. "I'm fine, Amy. I was just trying out an invention. So... how did your trip to the village go?" He answered while examining his newest invention. "Okay, I guess... I got a new book." She told him. "That's great!" Tails exclaimed, using his screw driver. "...... am I.... normal? Like... do I belong here?" Amy stammered. He looked up at her with a puzzled expression on his face. "Why would you say something like that?" Tails asked. She sighed, looking down. "I never feel like I fit in this place." Amy told him, her ears becoming flat. "Well, I think you're right where you're supposed to be! You're a beautiful lady, Amy... I'm sure that one day soon, you'll settle down, get married and have some kids." He said. "Don't even say the word 'married'..." She groaned, staring up at the ceiling. "Why not?" Tails replied. "Because... of Shadow! He's constantly bugging me to go out with him, when he's clearly in love with himself! I just want someone who understands me!" Amy exclaimed. After a moment of silence, he mumbled "This stupid invention is never going to work!" She gasped. "Don't say that! I bet your invention will win 1st place at the fair!" Amy told him. "Okay... let's test it out!" Tails said, starting up the machine. It moved slowly at first, but then it got faster and faster! Amy watched in delight as the ax that was attached to the invention began slicing through wood. "It works!" She squealed happily. Tails chuckled. "I guess that I need to leave for the fair, then!" He replied, moving the machine into a wagon outside. Tails got on a chocolate brown horse, with his invention being hauled behind him. "Good luck, Miles!" Amy called to him. He smiled. "Bye!" Tails exclaimed, riding off into the woods.
